Rule 14 Of Good Real Estate Photos - Fix Fisheye First
October 15th, 2007 Rules of Good Photos
I’ll side by side the before and after photo of Fisheye Distortion.

In fisheye the photo appears to bulge out in the middle and curve away at the edges. Fisheye is extremely visually disturbing in that what should be a straight line in the photo appears curved.
Whether or not you need to worry about fisheye, largely depends on your camera. Some cameras tend towards it a lot, some not at all. Have a look at your photos, if you see it appearing, you’ll need to fix it. Even the slightest fisheye is visually disturbing, in a kind of “something isn’t right but I can’t put my finger on it” way.
The best way to figure it out is take a photo of something with a lot of straight lines. A plain brick wall is ideal. Then in your photo editing software (I push Paint Shop Pro X2 as a extremely cost effective and robust option) just start fiddling with the fisheye correction until you get it right.
Once you know the required amount to fix fisheye on your camera, just fix it first on every photo you shoot. It’s impossible to fix it after cropping, rotation or perspective corrections. Always fix fisheye first.
Even so.. this is still just a photo of a sink. I messed about a little more to happy it up a bit. Nothing too overboard.
