Before They Even Step Inside

The very first things a buyer will see coming to your home, is the outside of the home. In fact most buyers will have already formed an opinion of your home before they see inside it. Its important that the front of the house and the front yard look their best.

Lawn Make sure it is mowed regularly. Dont leave anything on the front lawn like childrens toys, the lawn mower, cars or the garden hose. If something isnt meant to be out there, dont leave it there.

Plants Remove any dead plants and replant and mulch as needed. Trim the hedges and wilder plants back a bit.

Walkway Make sure any walkway to the house is clean, swept or shoveled.

Letterbox Make sure its functional. Clean it, paint it, replace it as needed. Its a low cost item, but everyone will look at it.

Doorbell Make sure its functional. They will ring it.

Front Door Clean it, paint it or even replace it if it is old.

Paint, plants and front door are some of the few items that can actually earn their cost back on resale. Most major remodeling wont earn the cost back. Elbow grease is the best earner of all.

You make it sound like I’m on a home make over reality TV show. Oh don’t worry about that, its been broken a while now…
